Lady in Red

I have recently fallen in love with RED. It all started on the 4th of July when I wore red lipstick in the spirit of the holiday…who knew how much I’d actually like it? Over the weekend there was an “all black party” and that just screamed LBD (little black dress) and an eye-catching lip…so I did red along with a red vintage clutch and suede red pumps from Aldo….XOXO…AV

Kinky Sista!

I’m doing this post because I am often asked what hair products I use on my hair as well as my daughter’s. Well because our hair is so thick and kinky the number one rule is MOISTURE. It is soooo important to moisturize on a daily basis when dealing with natural hair especially when it’s as coarse as mine.

Okay, so I shampoo my hair more than I do my daughters particularly because I workout and there is nothing worse than the smell of sweaty hair. I have used One ‘n Only Argan Oil Shampoo for some time now and I absolutely love the way it cleanses and doesn’t dry out my hair. After shampooing I followup with the One ‘n Only Argan Oil Conditioner and the Lustrasilk Aloe Vera Cholesterol Deep Conditioner, I allow this to sit on my hair for several hours (2-3hrs with or without a conditioning cap), usually of a Sunday or down day. After rinsing out the conditioners I use Curls Unleashed Curl Defining Leave-In Conditioner Creme and  Mega Care Sunflower natural Argan Oil,  (Curls Unleashed is really good for natural styling like twists; twistouts; coiling; etc.) and used together or separately make a great daily moisturizer. This process makes myself and my daughter’s hair extremely soft and more manageable. I have purchased these products from several different local beauty supply stores throughout Baltimore. If there is a specific product you are interested in just leave me a comment and I will let you know where you can find it.

Note: Do not dry your hair out by over cleansing. It is important to co-wash (use conditioner only) when you want to bring back the moisture, flexibility, and definition in your curls instead of shampooing.

Note:  When you desire a good cleansing I recommend Herbal Essence Drama Clean or Garnier Fructis Pure Clean fortifying shampoo followed by your moisturizing shampoo then continue with the rest of the regimen.

Let’s…Make Up For Ever

Most of my followers know I like to push the envelope when it comes to fashion, hair, makeup, etc. Well, I went to New York back in March and happened to stop in Sephora (by the way, I totally love Sephora) ,and I feel in absolute love with Make Up For Ever. I didn’t clean house but I purchased the most beautiful purple lipstick from the Rouge Artist Intense collection called Pearly Violet (#15) along with a lavender powder blush (#9). I’ve gotten so many compliments when I wear it that I had to do a post. Recently there was a super sexy Vegas casino themed party that I knew it was going to be amazingly fabulous and I decided to do all black. Well you can’t do all black without a black lip  now can you? Also from the Rouge Artist Intense collection I found a color called Satin Black (#50), I have to admit it set my entire look off. I was told, and I quote “you stood out among the crowd”…*blushing. I actually wore it again for my 29th birthday party and it looked amazing. Have a look-see for yourself!
